How could you not go to Halong Bay when you came to Hanoi, Vietnam, so I chose to buyklookThe one-day trip to Halong Bay costs about NT$2,000. The nearly 12-hour trip is very cost-effective, but half of the time is spent in a car (laughs).
Introduction to Halong Bay
Halong Bay was listed as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 1994, so it is a must-visit attraction during this trip. Halong Bay is located in a Karst landform, which is a limestone area at sea level. After rising, many islands were formed. The entire Halong Bay contains more than 3,000 large and small limestone islands. There are secret caves on many islands! Well worth a look.
itinerary summary
8:30 – Pick up from hotel in Old Town
12:05 – Arrive at Halong Bay
The road from Hanoi Old Quarter to Halong Bay is really long, about 150 kilometers, but the driver drove about 3.5 hours to reach Tuan Chau Harbor in Halong Bay. The seats on the Haoxian bus are quite comfortable, but my buttocks are still a bit sore from sitting there. A large group of people arrived in Halong Bay at about 12 o'clock.
The picture below shows the luxury cruise ship that traveled to Halong Bay this time. For this trip, we boarded the cruise ship together with another car. The total number of tourists was about 40, and the cruise ship was quite spacious.
Of course, the first stop was to fill our stomachs first. Not long after boarding the cruise, we started eating at the buffet. The food tasted pretty good, but I forgot to take pictures. It reminded the rich man of what he had eaten in Bohol Island, Philippines. Rio Verde Floating Resto,
13:10 Arrive at Hero Island
After filling your stomach, prepare to board the Hero Island (Ti Top Island). The cruise ship docks at the beach on the Hero Island.
We started climbing at 13:20 and finally reached the top of the mountain. But it was worth it to see this beautiful scenery. The famous world heritage site of Guilin on the Sea was cloudy that day and the sky was slightly foggy.
14:20 – Boating experience
When you come to the next island for a boating experience, you can choose to kayak by yourself or ask a boatman to row the boat. Slowly enter the cave under the rock wall.
Paddle your own canoe.

15:00 – Surprise Cave
Then we came to Hang Sung Sot. Hang Sung Sot is a huge stalactite cave located underground. Everyone went up and down the stairs. The rich man thought the stairs were quite steep and there were no handrails. If you are an elderly person, you need to go up and down. Pay attention to safety, it will be serious if you get out.
The scenery inside the cave is really stunning, and the strange-shaped stalactites seem to be in another magical world. Everyone enters another area through the small hole in front. The entrance to the cave is really small, so everyone can only squeeze together and walk slowly.
Wow! It’s spring again. I didn’t expect that the underground stalactite cave could be so spacious. It’s really spectacular. It’s easy to see how big the cave is when you see the tiny tourist in the photo. The tour guide said that the name of Surprised Cave came from the fact that the French who discovered the cave were so surprised that they were speechless when they saw the scene in the cave. The name was really well chosen.
Stalactite pillars that have passed through the ages.
There are really many tourists who come to visit Surprise Cave. Some famous landscape rocks in the cave are illuminated with lights of various colors, giving them a unique flavor.
Like a waterfall.
I left Surprise Cave at about 16:00 and realized that I had climbed so high that I could once again overlook the beautiful scenery of Halong Bay from another angle.
Return to the disembarkation location along the wooden trestle on the side. The route is well planned. Get ready to go back to the cruise ship for the sunset party.
16:30 – Sunset Party
The sunset party provided each visitor with a bottle of juice and some simple cookies to replenish their energy. Finally, we returned to Tuan Chau International Terminal in Halong Bay around 17:30.
Finally, we returned to the hotel in the old city around 20:30. It was a really long journey and very tiring.
rich man experience
There are really too many tourists coming to Halong Bay in Vietnam. Every scenic spot is crowded. The little rich man’s feet were stepped on several times and his shoes fell off (laughing). The rich man felt that the quality of tourism was not very good, and the ride time was really long. It is too long. If possible, it may be better to choose a two-day and one-night itinerary. The rich man personally recommends the one-day trip to Ning Binh. There are relatively few tourists and it is more leisurely.
