Can I use a credit card?

The rich man feels that credit cards are quite popular in Taiwan. Most restaurants and some taxis accept credit cards for payment (but most do not accept American Express cards). You can also use your credit card to buy high-speed rail and Taiwan Railway tickets. The night markets that foreign friends must visit can only accept cash, and a few vendors can use mobile payment. For buses and passenger transport, only cash or stored-value cards can be used.

Do you need to tip when dining?

Most restaurants will charge a service charge of 10% and it will be automatically added to the bill, so there is no need to leave an additional tip. Buffet-type restaurants (such as conveyor belt sushi, affordable steaks, etc.) usually do not charge a 10% service fee, but there is no need to tip extra.

Does the price include tax?

The prices you see in Taiwan all include the 5% consumption tax. For example, the prices on supermarket food, biscuits, specialty products in department stores, prices on clothes, hand cups, night markets, and restaurant menus are the final bill/receipt. price on. Goods or services that do not include tax are usually specially marked, but the rich man could not think of anything that did not include tax.

Voltage: Some friends may bring razors and other electrical appliances when traveling to Taiwan. The plugs in Taiwanese hotels are 110V. Some hotels can borrow universal sockets that can be converted to 220V for free, but rich people think it is safer to prepare their own adapters. If you are a friend who bought electrical appliances from Taiwan, such as a Datong electric cooker, be sure to plug in a converter to avoid reimbursement.

Water: Tap water in Taiwan is not drinkable directly. The water flowing out of taps in hotels still needs to be boiled before drinking. Do not drink it raw!

transportation

Transportation in Taiwan is very convenient. Taxis are everywhere on the streets. Rich people still recommend Uber, the taxi-hailing app. For special needs, such as chartered cars, wheelchairs, and child car seats, you can use the tripool APP.
