LEGO Xtreme Episode 1 – Cars Series

Challenge date: 2/6/2023

Because the rich man really liked Disney Cars 2, and Spy Mike Missile vs. Bad Guy was really cool, so the rich man made up his mind to help collect all the LEGO cars that had ever been released, and investigated the distribution of box sets. The year is around 2011-2012, which is considered an out-of-print box set 10 years ago. The main target this time is Kotaro of the Japanese team in the World Series, so I went to Japanese second-hand toy websites to look for it and observed it for a while. This time Someone happened to be selling them, but I had to buy a lot of them at once (laughs). In the end, I spent about NT$2,800 excluding shipping costs. I hope it was a good deal.

Prepare for the challenge

The rich man already had a small amount of spare Lego at home, which can be roughly classified into: 1×1 to 1×4 basic bricks, transparent bricks, inclined bricks, thin bricks, wheel bricks, steering bricks, etc., to speed up assembly. The basic principle is that when you can't find a brick, you should look for it from the spare brick area first, and then change it if you see it.

challenge begins

After receiving the package, the weight is about 5 kilograms. This time, I will challenge how long it takes to organize these Lego.

First, roughly classify Lego according to the possible box groups. After spending an hour sorting it out, the picture is as follows. This time, it is not bad. It is estimated that there will be 20 cars. The scene part is not sure, but it seems that there may be 8639 (Big Bentley Bust Out) , 9486 (Oil Rig Escape) and 8679 (Tokyo International Circuit).

The first stage of finishing

Let’s start with the 9486, which has a relatively small number of pieces. In addition, some boards have already been assembled first, and then there are quite a lot of obvious materials. One hour passed, and only two small containers of oil rigs were assembled (miserably).

After another hour, scene 9486 was completed, luckily there were almost no missing parts! Then it’s the turn of the small cars to adjust the wrong wheels and missing parts. It took about 3 hours to complete 9486.

Next is the 8639 Big Ben. This group of Little Rich Man already exists. I also accompanied the Little Rich Man to set up a few times. I am quite familiar with it. It took about 2 hours to complete it. As the materials become less and less, the speed is faster. Hey, let's try 8679 Tokyo International Circuit next, and finally only managed to form a rest stop for McQueen, which took about 1 hour and a half.

Today's results are quite fruitful. It took about 7 hours to complete 2 and a half sets.

In the end, there were about 1 kilogram of loose LEGO bricks left, which should be from the LEGO 5482 Classic Green Box.

LEGO Extreme Challenge Episode 2

Continuing the first episode of the last Lego Extreme Challenge. This time we are also challenging the most familiar Cars box set. Why do we say we are the most familiar? Because the little rich man has almost all the box sets (proud), I will write an article later to show off his collection (laughs).
