How to take the bus in Taipei? Bus introduction/one-day pass/APP recommendation/note sharing

Taipei's public transportation is very convenient. Today, let me introduce how to take the bus in Taipei. The advantage of taking the bus is that you can reach many places that the MRT cannot reach (laughing). Many times, you take the MRT and then transfer to the bus. But it can save a lot of transportation costs, let’s take a look.

Taipei bus introduction

Taipei City’s urban buses are jointly operated by 14 passenger bus operators, with approximately 280 routes. The bus route types include general routes, trunk buses, MRT feeder buses, mountain buses, leisure buses, and citizen minibuses.

  • General routes: Generally, bus numbers in Taipei range from 1 to 3 digits. Sometimes you will see cars with 4-digit numbers on the dedicated bus lanes. These cars are considered passenger transport and have a wide driving range and can reach Taoyuan Airport, Keelung and other places.
  • Trunk buses: Specially run on major roads in Taipei City, such as Zhongxiao Trunk Line, Xinyi Trunk Line, Renai Trunk Line, Neihu Trunk Line, Fuxing Trunk Line, Zhongshan Trunk Line, Chengde Trunk Line, Chongqing Trunk Line, etc.
  • MRT shuttle buses: go to and from major MRT stations, starting with BR, R, BL, G, and O.
    • BR (Brown Line): Wenshan Neihu Line, R (Red Line): Tamsui Xinyi Line, BL (Blue Line): Banqiao Nangang Line, G (Green Line): Songshan Xindian Line, O (Orange Line): Zhonghe Line
  • Mountain buses/citizen minibuses, etc.: travel in the suburbs, starting with S (small) or M.
  • Leisure buses: Most only run on weekends, starting with 1, such as 109 and 111 that travel between Taipei city and Yangmingshan on weekends

Charging standard: The fare for each section is NT$15 for adults; the fare for the elderly, children and people with disabilities is NT$8 (about half the price). The fare for each bus route is based on the principle of no more than two sections. Most buses From the first stop to the last stop, it only costs 30 yuan for a two-stage ticket, which the rich man thought was quite cheap.

Each bus stop will list all available bus numbers and routes.

Detailed bus route, but unfortunately, probably due to space constraints, only the bus stop names are shown in Chinese, which is not very friendly to foreign tourists. There are also notifications of expected bus arrivals.

payment method

You can use cash when taking the bus, but you need to bring your own change (the machine will not change money). The most convenient way is to use the EasyCard or All-in-One Card. Using the EasyCard or All-in-One Card can also enjoy two-way transfer discounts with Taipei MRT and YouBike.

Cash is dropped into the silver box next to the driver. You can only pay by card for rear door boarding.

Transfer discount

If you take the MRT within 1 hour after getting off the bus and swiping your card, adults can get a discount of up to 8 yuan per trip, depending on the ticket type. You can also transfer to YouBike with a discount of 5 yuan (the first 30 minutes are free).

bus lane

Some road sections in Taipei City have dedicated bus lanes. Bus lanes are roads dedicated to buses and passengers, such as Renai Road, Xinyi Road, Dunhua North and South Road, Nanjing East and West, Songjiang Road, Xinsheng North and South Road, etc. , it will save a lot of time during traffic jams on and off work.

Features

Route Search Route Search

For a single bus route search, after entering the "bus number", all stops and bus arrival times for each stop will be listed according to the direction (outbound/return). The rich man feels that the estimated arrival time is quite accurate and does not need to be too much. Worry.

Directions Plan a route

How to get from point A to point B is a function often used by rich people. For example, how to go from Taipei Main Station to Yangmingshan to enjoy flowers? The APP’s Directions function can accomplish this task.

The rich man feels that the English support of Bus Tracker Taipei APP is quite good, and all major attractions and landmarks in Taipei can be searched. As shown in the picture below, after entering "Taipei main station (Taipei Main Station)", several bus stops will appear to choose from, because Taipei Main Station is the transportation hub of Taipei City, and nearby surrounding roads such as Zhongxiao East Road, Citizen Avenue, and Hengyang Road There are almost all buses going in different directions that you can take. The transportation is very convenient, but it is also complicated, so you still need to pay attention. If you don't choose the right location, it will take a big circle, so be careful.

The green frame in the picture below is the bus stop near Taipei Main Station. It’s very complicated.

Bus stops near Taipei Main Station

After selecting the "departure station" and "destination station", click search and various bus methods to the destination will be listed, including route description, estimated time and cost, which is very convenient.

Nearby nearby bus stop

The rich man is standing at Taipei Main Station. After pressing Nearyby, nearby bus stop signs will be displayed.

After clicking on "Taipei Main Sta. (Zhongxiao)" in the picture above, I found out, suspicious! Why do we have the same bus number but different destinations? Take bus No. 22 in the picture below as an example. One bus goes to Hengyang Rd. and the other goes to Wuxing St.

Taipei many (not all) bus routes are actuallyBilateral station establishmentBilateral stations mean that one side of the road is for the outbound journey and the other side is for the return journey. You don’t have to worry about getting on the wrong bus. You can just cross the road to the opposite side and take the bus back. Take bus No. 22 as an example. To go to Hengyang Rd., take the orange bus stop in the picture below. To go to Wuxing St., take the green bus stop in the picture below. That’s about it. Taipei Main Station is a more complicated example and the hardest to understand. After that, other places will definitely be fine (laughs).
